Popular Book Store, one of the the oldest names in books trade in Chandigarh, was founded by Late Sh. At the time of Partition in 1956, Kishan Chand Arora migrated from Pakistan's Dera Gazi Khan.
started off with just Rs. 2,000 in his pocket, one employee, and no idea of how far he would be able to carry this business in this still-developing city. However, it didn't take long for him to begin winning over the public's trust with his ethical business practises and aggressive pricing. What began with a small number of clients quickly gained notoriety throughout the city and its environs.
The store, which initially only sold a few volumes, eventually supplied books to many schools and institutions in the city and its surrounding areas, becoming well-known in the process. After roughly 65 years in business, we are now the largest provider of school and college books in the Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Mohali tricity as well as the neighbouring states of Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, and we are supported by thousands of students from kindergarten through university.
People who visit our store frequently mention that they used to buy books from us while they were in school, followed by their children, and now their grandkids. Therefore, we can declare with great pride that we are assisting our third generation of customers become doctors, engineers, IT professionals, scientists, Chartered Accountants, and civil servants, among other professions.
